Technical stand-up
A protected way to move from seated alignment to standing base.
How to read it
What this entry helps you see
The technical stand-up keeps a protective frame available while the hips lift and the rear leg travels underneath. Distance and surface conditions matter. In live training, the movement should preserve awareness of the partner rather than become a race to stand.
Study cues
- Build a stable hand and foot base
- Lift the hips before threading the rear leg
- Finish in a stance that can move immediately
Common errors
- Crossing the feet
- Dropping the protective hand too early
- Standing into the partner without managing distance
