Mount

A top position organized around hip control, balance, and progressive isolation.

How to read it

What this entry helps you see

Mount becomes stable when the top player can adjust base as the bottom player bridges, frames, or turns. The bottom player works to reconnect elbows and knees, disturb base, and create a route to half guard, guard, or a safer alignment.

Study cues

  1. Adjust base before reaching for attacks
  2. Climb only after controlling the current line
  3. For bottom, connect elbow and knee before making space

Common errors

  1. Top player posting both hands high at once
  2. Bottom player pushing with separated elbows
  3. Trying to recover full guard in one motion
